ON THE ROAD; RIDE REPORT.
OVER THE HILL RIDE REPORT
Well we were expecting it to be a hot ride and we got one. The sun beat down
but the club members and guest handled it in their stride, with quiet a big turn out
considering the extreme temperature. A big thanks to Lance and Marie with the
back up trailer, always right behind the pack all day with outstanding corner
marking from Todd, Muzza, Dave, Lindsay and all the usual suspects and tail end
Charlie “Harry” rounding up any strays, making the oppressive heat so much
more bearable. We had a spill but the rider got straight back up dusted
themselves off and was off riding again without a blink.
Using the Tweed back roads we rode in the shade most of the way to Ocean
Shores Tavern where we enjoyed air conditioned comfort and a cold beer, with a
bottle of Bourbon donated by the Ocean Shores Tavern for our raffle held at the
Tavern, which was won by Andrea.
Leaving the Tavern riders got understandably impatient in the oppressive heat
and wanted to get moving before tail end Charlie “Harry” was ready, we must wait
to get the go ahead from Harry, there may be a bike that does not start which
may cause problems for the corner markers waiting for Tail end Charlie “Harry”
and the back up vehicle to pass.
From the Ocean Shores Tavern Andy led us past Brunswick Heads, down
through Mullumbimby to the old Highway and into Bangalow park where Phill and
Justin had slaved over the hot Barbecue to have lunch ready right on time and
believe me it was bloody hot, but the beer was icy cold and the lunch as always,
was great. A few more raffle prizes drawn and we were off again to the Billinudgel
pub where almost everyone rode back to, with Lance and Marie right behind, an
awesome sight to see the club so tight and together after so many mishaps from
A great day enjoyed by everyone, especially the new prospective club members,
while the older members were ecstatic on the choice of roads taken by the
events committee whom worked together to plan the ride with an exemplary effort
from the corners markers making it all look like clockwork. Only a few turned up
at Kirra at the end of the ride which was understandable, being such an
extremely hot and exhausting day riding.
Our next ride is the “Southern Run” on the 12/3/17 which is being planned by
Popeye and the events committee. It’s destination and route will be mapped and
announced by Popeye at our next monthly members meeting at the Ivory Tavern, Monday
6th March 7.00pm EDST.
